FANTASY FOOTBALL WAIVER WIRE BEAST OR BUST (WEEK 5)

DONTAYVION WICKS

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

This Summer, Wicks was being drafted way too high. He was even listed as one of my 15 Players you do not want to Draft. After a slow start to this season where he was performing like a Waiver Wire option averaging about 3-4 targets per game, Wicks finally broke out with 5 Catches/78 Yards/2 TD.

All it took for Wicks to break out was a Christian Watson ankle injury, mixed with being down 4 TDs in garbage time. There is no doubt when you look at Dontayvion Wicks, you see a BEAST. Big, fast, strong, if he was on a team that was not stacked at WR, he would be a household name.

With Watson injured, Wicks does become an appealing Fantasy Option, but as soon as Christian Watson is back, Wicks goes right back to playing like a Waiver Wire option. He is in the same boat as Jauan Jennings last week, injuries spurred him forward to being a potential WR2. As the players returned for the 49ers, Jennings was hardly the same Fantasy option as he was last week as he only had 3 receptions including an amazing catch which led to 80+ yards.

As soon as Watson is back and the Packers are full strength at WR, Wicks is not startable in Fantasy. With Watson’s injury history, there is some upside.
