FANTASY FOOTBALL THURSDAY NIGHT BEAST
GIBB ME LOVE OR GIBB ME GOFF (WEEK 4)
By Muntradamus
BEAST DOME NATION.
We are not even one month into the season, and it is very clear Jahmyr Gibbs will go down as one of the worst 3rd Round Draft Picks in Fantasy Football history. Will the sheep take accountability for this terrible pick? No of course not. That is fine however, we will keep BEASTING.
With David Montgomery making his return after a one-game absence, the Lions offense now has a running threat they can depend on. The Packers defense is more banged up than they want to admit. Despite their dominant performances against NFL juggernauts like the Bears/Falcons/Saints, the Packers D is not the same D without Jaire Alexander and D’Vondre Campbell. Look for Jared Goff to be able to find ways to move the ball down the field through various options, maybe including Jahmyr Gibbs on a 4 yard check down where he can go down on first contact.
The Packers offense is going to need to step it up. Jordan Love is getting the most fake Love I have ever seen. What I mean by that; Love leads the NFL in uncatchable passes 30%+, he was shutout for 3 Quarters against the Saints last week, and take out at least four pass interferences that gave the Packers a chance to score this season deep in the red zone, Love really has been doing little. I will say Jordan Love is a great red zone QB who capitalizes, but we will lay off the kid now that he has Christian Watson and Aaron Jones back.
Aaron Jones should immediately be the go-to guy in this offense. Lions front 7 looks very good this year, so the Packers will have to get creative with it. Aaron Jones out of the backfield catching passes is a dangerous weapon, and the Lions Linebackers are built for power, not speed. Speaking of Power and not Speed, there is no reason to be worried about AJ Dillon. Aaron Jones is the lead dog of this offense, only thing that will keep him off the field is his hamstring. It was once 65/35 Jones to Dillon in touches, after how Dillon performed while Jones was out, let’s just say Aaron Jones will be in the game whenever the Packers are really trying to make something happen.
Love will have to make throws. Life will not come easy for the Packers, but Love has the athleticism that these Lions Linebackers do not have. If Love can make throws, make magic happen with his legs, hit his open targets, the Packers offense will move.
End of the day, the Packers Offensive Line is not ready for the hungry Lions Defense. Running game will not be very effective, Love will not be very consistent. Lions offense should be able to move the ball down the field through the air anytime they want, which will setup the run. Packers secondary has talent, but they will be playing, ‘Guess Who’ to guard next too often where the Lions talent heavily outweighs what the Packers can do to stop them.
