Without Hollywood defenses no longer have to worry about Lamar Jackson throwing the ball further than 15 yards. What, is he going to throw deep to Devin Duvernay and James Porsche? Rashod Bateman will be locked up by #1 every Sunday. Which means obviously Lamar is going to be looking for Mark Andrews. Andrews is going to be seeing double coverage nearly every play, if not triple coverage on obvious passing situations.
Mark Andrews is not the fastest TE, he is not the strongest TE, he is not even the most athletic TE. When the Ravens snap the ball, you can guarantee the LB will stay on Andrews for every short route, and as soon as he breaks past those 5+ yards, a saftey will be right there who was watching Andrews the whole way as a shadow defender. Lamar Jackson shows his reads like a 1st grade teacher reading to a class, there is no way Lamar will be able to throw in so much coverage with everyone looking him straight in the eyes as he does it.
So why in the world does every Sheep Fantasy Football website promote Mark Andrews as the #2 TE, some even say #1 TE over Kelce? Because they are using basic knowledge saying Andrews is the only player who is going to catch passes from Lamar Jackson. While in theory that sounds true, but in reality it is going to be a lot harder than it looks and the Ravens will be punting a lot more than usual this season. The Ravens also are going to kill a lot of time on offense with their heavy ground approach, leaving less chances for Mark Andrews to catch the maybe 150 Yards/1 TD pass Lamar throws every week.
