FANTASY FOOTBALL BUST LADD MCCONKEY
FANTASY FOOTBALL BUST LADD MCCONKEY
By Muntradamus
BEAST DOME NATION.
Stop me if you heard this one before. There is a Rookie WR, and the Sheep love him. Ring a bell? How about reading these articles from 2023 to refresh your memory where I called BUST on all of them. They all were drafted too high.
2023 All underperformed
These guys are going 6th/7th/8th Round (minus Mingo).
JAXON SMITH-NJIGBA
QUENTIN JOHNSTON
ZAY FLOWERS
JORDAN ADDISON
JONATHAN MINGO
2022 11th ROUND WRs
TREYLON BURKS/SKYY MOORE/KADARIUS TONEY
(All 3 WRs will be on Waiver Wire before Week 4)
Burks. Last we checked, the Titans do not want to throw the ball ever. Why would the team’s #3/#4 weapon in the passing game be a player you would want to waste a valuable draft pick on?
Moore. The Skyy is not the limit for Moore who is Moore or less the #4 WR on the Chiefs. Skyy will be a good Special Teams player, yet he is drafted in a crucial depth round.
Toney. Giants are filled with WRs and Daniel Jones has zero favorites. The only favorite option in the passing game might be Saquon Barkley, and Toney is going way too early for a player who will play like a Waiver Wire option more often than not.
BURKS (2022) – 444 Yards/1 TD/33 Catches
TONEY (2022) – 176 Yards/2 TD/16 Catches
MOORE (2022) – 250 Yards/0 TD/22 Catches
While Toney was not a Rookie (2nd Year), he also was not a reliable Fantasy WR at all last season. Treylon Burks and Skyy Moore were both Waiver Wire quality WRs, yet the Sheep hyped way too much. The funny thing is, all three of these players are once again being touted way too high.
2023 9th Round WRs
TONEY/BURKS/MOORE
All are being drafted way too high, and all will be Waiver Wire options again. While Treylon Burks did look the most impressive of the three, to rely on Burks to be anything more than a WR5 is going to take more luck than skill.
Toney and Moore are both going to eat each other in snaps in KC, and once again you got Sheep over-hyping young WRs who will all be part of the BUST YOUR DRAFT GUIDE. Everyone is high on Skyy because everyone believes BEAT REPORTERS over reality. Beat reporters saying Moore getting all the 1st team slot snaps, the reality is Toney will be back and he will eat those as well. Not to mention Richie James Jr. who arguably is better than both of them.
You can either be with the Sheep, or you can be with the BEAST.
LADD MCCONKEY
The Chargers are in a transition period while they have Justin Herbert in his prime. With Keenan Allen and a bunch of Herbert’s weapons from last year gone, there are some new names to step in. One of those names is Ladd McConkey.
Sheep are excited for Ladd because of what he was able to do in College, and he does have some skill. What if I told you on that same Georgia team, DJ Chark took Ladd’s place. DJ Chark was the star WR in Georgia, then got drafted to the Chargers. Who would you be more excited about, DJ Chark or Ladd? While Quentin Johnston is still figuring out his game, he needs to be part of the offense sooner than later as their 1st Round Pick, QJ is needed now. The WR who is really needed now is Joshua Palmer, who is probably the favorite weapon of Herbert as they have worked great together over the years.
The #3 WR role is up for grabs. Technically Ladd can run the slot better than Chark, but Palmer can run the slot better than Ladd. Chark/Johnston on the outside are two big body WRs that can get deep quick. This is not like Ladd is walking into a talentless WR room, these guys are still somebody’s. Ladd has not proved himself to be a guy who is going to consistently get 6-8 Targets a week. However Ladd is being Drafted in that range as I see him go in Round 8 of many 12-team leagues. He is not draftable and will be on the Waiver Wire before Week 5 in a majority of leagues. The WRs will rotate often leaving them all dry, minus Palmer but not consistent enough to be part of the Draft Guide.
