BLACK HAWK DOWN (ATLANTA FALCONS)

BEAST DOME NATION.
The Atlanta Falcons are a team that only a few seasons ago were in the Super Bowl, with MVP QB Matt Ryan, who we all drafted that year, with a 28-3 late in the 3rd Quarter of the big game.
Now the Falcons are a team, with a horrible ugly new jersey, and lucky to be considered for playoff consideration moving forward in the tough NFC South. Two years ago it was the injury of Deion Jones that made the Falcons Defense worthless, as well as Keanu Neal. Last year, it was Keanu Neal again. So what did the Falcons do to ensure that they would be protected if either Neal or Jones were to miss time?
They drafted AJ Terrell, CB with their first-round pick. From first glace he looks too small to body up any big time WR. Second round they took Tommy Gun Davidson at DT. Two additions that will help, but what about the rest of their defense? They let Desmond Trufant, De’Vondre Campbell walk, and Vic Beasley their sack master is no longer in town. Okay, these are pretty big moves considering the fact that this defense was barely hanging on by a thread to begin with. They did add big man Allen Bailey to help secure the Line of Scrimmage as well as pass rusher Dante Fowler who has more or less been a BUST in his NFL career.
Things are not looking good. Want them to look even worst? The Falcons Defensive Coordinator used to be a WR coach.. While Dan Quinn who headed the Seahawks Legion of Boom days still remains the Head Coach, and will probably have a lot of say how the Defense plays. With that being said, giving Raheem Morris the DC spot is a weak attempt to stopping QBs like Tom Brady & Drew Brees 4x a year.
The Falcons are going to live and die off of Keanu Neal and Deion Jones staying healthy once again. DT Grady Jarrett is a BEAST, and he can singly handily make an impact, but the rest of this defense is looking more and more like a Defense that does not belong in the NFL.
While the Falcons were darling of the NFL a few years ago, now they are the definition of.
*Just as I publish the article, Falcons add Deone Bucannon. Good replacement for De’Vondre Campbell who goes to the Cardinals where Bucannon succeeded. Still, that is not enough with the crippling secondary with no depth and lack of pass rush.*
