Fantasy Football Beasts:

J-Mac Attack Is Back (Week 6)

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

For all of you new to the site.  This is essentially the “Start’EM” article of the week.  The Sit’EM aka Busts comes out later.  The players I choose in this article are the players where I go against the tide.  These are the players I think Experts on other sites have ranked too low, and they are going to outperform their ranking with ease.  You can check out my Rankings within the Experts, as well as my Week 6 Rankings by clicking the link below.

WEEK 6 RANKINGS

WEEK 6 BEASTS

TONY ROMO – QB – DAL

MUNTRADAMUS QB RANK: #8
EXPERT QB CONSENSUS RANK: #16

Romo is the poster boy of this week (Riddle Me A Romo) as Cam Newton was last week (Green Eggs and Cam).  The only difference is this week I am promoting Romo to get back to those 3 TD games his owners have been waiting for.  The Ravens Defense is vulnerable against the pass, and Romo has three solid weapons who could all have great games.  Jerry Jones will not accept a lost.  He made his point clear in Week 1 against the Giants, and now he has to make that point again. Start Romo this week with confidence.

MATT HASSELBECK – QB – TEN

MUNTRADAMUS QB RANK: #18
EXPERT QB CONSENSUS RANK: #23

Went against the tide and projected he would have a similar game that Carson Palmer had against this defense a few weeks back.  1/1 so far.

WILLIS MCGAHEE – RB – DEN

MUNTRADAMUS RB RANK: #6
EXPERT RB CONSENSUS RANK: #16

Every single week I have to put him on this list.  Stop me if you heard this before.  Peyton Manning = Offense in Red Zone. Red Zone Offense = Willis McGahee. Willis McGahee = TD.  It’s a formula.

REGGIE BUSH – RB – MIA

MUNTRADAMUS RB RANK: #3
EXPERT RB CONSENSUS RANK: #11

Reggie is the man this season.  The fact he is able to be as good as he has been with this terrible offense and playing less than 100% amazes me.  Even at less than 100%, he can shred up this Rams Defense who are not the definition of lights out.

MICHAEL TURNER – RB – ATL

MUNTRADAMUS RB RANK: #4
EXPERT RB CONSENSUS RANK: #12

Finding second life in his legs, Turner has turned from Fat Tree Stub, to old school burner.  I love JacQuizz and I wish he could step it up, but right now this is a Turner world.  Michael should find plenty of opportunities to score TDs against an Oakland Secondary that will be on it’s heels.

BRANDON BOLDEN – RB – NE

MUNTRADAMUS RB RANK: #26
EXPERT RB CONSENSUS RANK: #33

Bolden should not be on any waiver wire.

Stevan Ridley and his fumbles are really messing with Fantasy Owners emotions.  Brandon Bolden looks like a Fresh Benjarvus Green-Ellis, and you can never trust Bill Bellichick to do the right thing.  Brandon Bolden will get his 10+ Carries this week, that I’m sure of.  But the potential for so much more is there, especially if he has a good game.

CHRIS JOHNSON – RB – TEN

MUNTRADAMUS WR RANK: #17
EXPERT WR CONSENSUS RANK: #26

1/1 so far in my sleeper RBs of the week.  CJ1.2K looked a lot better in a matchup where he was not facing one of the best run defenses in the NFL (Minnesota last week).  CJ is going to be fine, like I said back before Week 3.  Once the passing game shows life, CJ will have life.

JEREMY MACLIN – WR – PHI

MUNTRADAMUS WR RANK: #15
EXPERT WR CONSENSUS RANK: #25

Bad news LeSean McCoy owners.  The Eagles are not going to run the ball, so you can expect Jeremy Maclin who should now be close to 100% make a huge impact in this game.  The Lions will be concerned with Desean Jackson beating them with the deep ball, which should leave a lot of room for Mac to operate.

SIDNEY RICE – WR – SEA

MUNTRADAMUS WR RANK: #22
EXPERT WR CONSENSUS RANK: #35

Guess what Seattle!

Running the ball all game against New England will not work.  Especially when you are down 21-0.  So put on your Sidney Rice dreads and get ready to break yo neck Busta Rhymes style when you see all the passes go Sidney Rices way.  Call this your Reggie Wayne Epic Performance of the Week.  That is unless the Patriots play a Larry Fitzgerald defense on him.

MIKE WILLIAMS – WR – TB

MUNTRADAMUS WR RANK: #23
EXPERT WR CONSENSUS RANK: #34

Vincent Jackson is going up against Brandon Flowers.  Flowers is now 100% and luckily being an IDP expert as well as positional players.  I can tell you this is not a matchup you want to walk to.  Essentially this means that Josh Freeman is going to depend on his Ex #1 WR Mike Williams.

Which means you can essentially play him as a sleeper WR #3.

ANDREW HAWKINS – WR – CIN

MUNTRADAMUS WR RANK: #27
EXPERT WR CONSENSUS RANK: #36

The Hawk should be busy in this one against a Browns secondary that will focus on stopping A.J. Green.  Hawkins is a special player that can take any ball to the house, would not be surprised to see him possibly make it happen this week.  With D’Qwell Jackson back as well, the Running Game will not be able to gash the Browns for 200 Yards.

HARRY DOUGLAS – WR – ATL

MUNTRADAMUS WR RANK: #45
EXPERT WR CONSENSUS RANK: #78

Here is your Devery Henderson pick of the week.  You want a deep threat who could score a TD on one play, Mr. Harry Douglas is your man.  The Falcons will be dominating this week, and Harry can easily take one to the house.

BRANDON PETTIGREW – TE – DET

MUNTRADAMUS TE RANK: #5
EXPERT TE CONSENSUS RANK: #12

People are forgetting that Brandon Pettigrew almost had 100 Receptions last season.  Despite dropping 2 TDs so far on the year, he is getting open and is overdue for that breakout game that reminds you why you drafted him in the first place.  I would be excited to use Pettigrew this week as the Eagles could be game planning to slow down Megatron.

JERMAINE GRESHAM – TE – CIN

MUNTRADAMUS TE RANK: #9
EXPERT TE CONSENSUS RANK: #17

Gresh will be utilized in the passing game this week to take T.J. Ward away from A.J. Green.  Once Ward commits too much to guarding Gresham underneath, that is when A.J. Green is at his most dangerous level.  You can be sure that Cleveland will not go with that strategy, allowing Jermaine to get plenty of receptions underneath.

MIKE NUGENT – K – CIN

MUNTRADAMUS K RANK: #2
EXPERT K CONSENSUS RANK: #17

I like Andy Dalton to have success moving the ball, which in return should set up a lot of FG opportunities for Nugent.

SHAUN SUISHAM – K – PIT

MUNTRADAMUS K RANK: #3
EXPERT K CONSENSUS RANK: #15

1/1 On Kickers, Suisham almost had an Epic day but missed on his 4th FG attempt from 54 Yards.  Still, his owners will take the nice 12 Point game.

FALCONS – D/ST – ATL

MUNTRADAMUS D/ST RANK: #1
EXPERT D/ST CONSENSUS RANK: #6

If you know anything about Carson Palmer, it’s that he will throw a lot of INTs in games the Raiders have no chance.  This is one of those games this Sunday, and I would make sure not to put the Falcons D/ST in your lineup for this one.

PATRIOTS – D/ST – NE

MUNTRADAMUS D/ST RANK: #2
EXPERT D/ST CONSENSUS RANK: #8

Russell Wilson is in a very bad situation this week as New England feasts on Pick 6 opportunities in games where it could be a blowout.  Expect Russell Wilson to either show up and be a new QB, or end up being the best friend to the NE D/ST unit.

BUCANNERS – D/ST – TB

MUNTRADAMUS D/ST RANK: #6
EXPERT D/ST CONSENSUS RANK: #13

The Chiefs come into this one with Brady Quinn as their hope for offensive success.  We all saw how talents this defense is after they shut down RGIII from a passing TD, now all they have to do is contain the run.  Bucs will make sure Jamaal Charles does not beat them.

  1. Really enjoy this site. As the waiver wire pool has all but dried up minus the roll-the-dice weekly WR#3 add, I’m wondering if anyone can offer any rest-of-the-season wisdom for real improvement via trade or otherwise on my team in my 14 Team PPR League (special attention on upgrading WR? ).

    Starters:

    QB Drew Brees
    WR Miles Austin
    WR Antonio Brown
    RB Jamaal Charles
    RB Adrian Peterson
TE Martellus Bennet (subbing for A.Hernandez)
    K Lawrence Tynes
    DEF NY GIANTS

    Bench:
Jacquizz Rodgers (following Munts advice here), Christian Ponder, Kendall Hunter, Miami DEF (plug in this week on matchup)

  2. Great call on Rice, Russel or Flynn will have to throw alot this game to win it. Bolden is a bold prediction, going against one of the top three defenses in the NFL. I think Woodhead has the more productive game as the Pats will be running the no huddle alot.

  3. good question man because i have rice lol

i’d guess blackmon though. although, you’d have to get the beast master’s final opinion on that one

  4. Rice Definitely has long term value as he is a victim of poor quarterbacking. Flynn is 1 to 2 losses away from starting which will hopefully mean the return of a deep threat in the seattle offense. You can figure a target increase and a more consistent production from him in the range of 4-5 rec and 70 yards with a bi-weekly TD rate at worst.

As far as blackmon goes, everyone likes his upside and the pieces are in place(good running game). He just needs to find consistency with gabbert which may be hard to do. I see him gaining late season value(most likely around playoff time) as a plug and play

  5. Tough. Your RBs are stacked for a 14-team league and you could use help in the WR, K, and DEF spot.

I would offer Charles for a nice top-15 WR a and a decent #2 RB to fill the void. Maybe like a Roddy White.

    See what Munt says.

  6. Reggie Wayne or Maclin this week? Really torn between a breakout game for Mac or another monster game by Wayne but vs Cromatie? Who just shut down Andre Johnson?! Help.

  7. Hey any improvements I could make with my team ?
