FANTASY BASEBALL THURSDAY NIGHT LIGHTS (BEISBOL ES VIDA)

FANTASY BASEBALL THURSDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
(BEISBOL ES VIDA)
By Muntradamus
BEAST DOME NATION.
The Fantasy Baseball season is a fun one, but it is also one where if you are not careful, you fall into the Baseball Matrix. When I say Matrix I mean making 300+ Fantasy Baseball Lineups and watching Baseball from sunrise to sundown switching games every batter with multiple games going on at once. I love the Baseball Matrix personally, and if I could be stuck there for eternity, sign me up. However it is important to have some balance in your life, that is because the Fantasy Football Matrix is coming up, and you already know I am going to be sucked up in for eternity when that time comes around. If I am not careful, I may blink and it will be 2024.
With that being said, Baseball Thursday is going to be my Football Sunday. The one day of the week where Baseball is life. Or as they say in Spanish, “El Beisbol Es Vida” according to Google Translator, but I am going to go with my answer in the title. I will still be picking games and props daily, but the going all out is reserved for Thursday Primetime.

MAIN SLATE GAMES ONLY
TIGERS @ TWINS
Tigers are a hot team as they were able to compete with the Braves of all teams as of late. They just destroyed Spencer Strider with a few HRs, Strider still got the win, and now they face Sonny Gray. The BEAST DOME Legend who was part of the Baseball Draft Guide. Sonny is a candidate for CY Young when it is all said and done this season, and in order for that statement to be true, he has to take care of business against teams like the Tigers. Sure Torkelson and Ibanez are hot hitters, but those names mean nothing when going up against a Sonny Gray.
Matthew Boyd will try to make things work for the Tigers, but this is not 2018 anymore and a road matchup against the City of 10,000 Rakes is not what Boyd wants to see on his schedule. Boyd did turn back the clock for a minute earlier this month with 9 Ks against the White Sox, but the Twins have good hitting with guys who do not have egos. What I mean by that is this team is just playing baseball, hitting them where they ain’t and having runners on base instead of hitting 40 HRs.
I would like to see the Twins offense hitting the ball a bit better, and they are facing some injuries, but this is a game the Twins should win as a team as they make their way to the Playoffs.

ROCKIES @ BRAVES
AJ Smith-Shawver is pitching like a name we should remember with a perfect 0.00 ERA and an ERA at 1.09 in the minors. Luckily for him against the Rockies, he is not in Colorado. The Rockies as a team hit way worst on the road than they do at home, for good reason. Rockies offense is hot however and this is no easy matchup for the Rookie. While it is nice to believe he is the truth, this is a good test to see if he really is. Nolan Jones is one of the hottest hitters in Baseball, and BEAST DOME Draft Strategy Legend Ryan McMahon is having a great year. Lots of tough bats to get through, we will see if the Rookie prevails.
While Kyle Freeland has been great for the Rockies these past few seasons, especially on the road. This matchup is not a matchup he wants on the road. Braves have guys that can hit the skin off the baseball. The big soft lefty is entering the fire tonight, and he could end up on the wrong end of this game quickly.
Look for Atlanta to win this game at home.

ANGELS @ RANGERS
Shohei is taking MLB by storm. This is a good test to see how dominant of a pitcher he really is against a tough Rangers offense in Texas. Ohtani has not been pitching great as of late, and the Rangers are one of the hottest offenses in MLB. Ohtani always has the ability to bounce back, but the Rangers have the ability to hit just about anyone. Expect Ohtani to not pitch that amazing, however betting against Ohtani can easily comeback to bite you. Still not an easy start.
Eovaldi has figured out his stuff, and now he can show it off against the Angels. Not so easy as the Angels are smashing the ball these days, and it could be trouble for Nate just like his last start against Tampa Bay where he had baserunners on all game long. This could be the beginning of the end or the end of the beginning for Eovaldi. Tonights matchup will give us the clue.

PIRATES @ CUBS
Marcus Stroman takes the mound for the Cubs, and he has been amazing to say the least with some of the best single game pitching performances this season. Most impressive of all was his Complete Game Shutout against the Rays, and now he faces the Pirates. Pirates have some guys who are hitting well like Swunski, but Stroman is a lightsout pitcher and you have to imagine he continues that theme in this matchup. In Stroman’s last 5 starts, his ERA is 1.38. Good luck Pirates, Stroman is pitching better than he ever has. His younger brother is throwing in the 93 mph at 15 Years Old. There may be something he and his brother learned this off-season.
Johan Oviedo is a number you will remember, he is pitching very hard for the Pirates for a good while now. When I say pitching hard, he is pounding that fastball with some power. When bats hit his fastball, they somehow only result in weak ground balls. Johan is racking up Ks as well in the process and he has become a pitcher that has my interest. This is not a great matchup on the road where he could get in trouble as the Cubs are a team that can load on lots of baserunners in a hurry, then come up with those clutch hits with runners in scoring position to chase off the starter. Johan has the stuff, but this is a big test.

NATIONALS @ ASTROS
All Christian Javier does is win, win, win no matter what. Before last start he had a streak of allowing only 1 ER in 5 games straight. Tonight he has a chance to get right back on track against the Nationals. Astros are supposed to contend for a World Series, when they have one of their best pitchers going on the mound at home against a re-building Nationals, Javier has to step up. Nationals do have some sleeper hitters that can do some damage with clutch hits in clutch situations, but for the most part Javier should be in control.
Mackenzie Gore is a hard throwing lefty who can pitch well in easy situations. Pitching in Houston against a lineup that is loaded with right handed hitters, Gore will find himself in trouble more often than not throughout this game. Astros have bats that can hit the ball even with Air Yordan out. Look for the Astros to get to Gore, this is not an ideal matchup.

GUARDIANS @ PADRES
Logan Allen is going into the danger zone tonight against the Padres in SD. His lefty pitching ways without overpowering the Padres hitters, that is big trouble. Look for SD to smash pitches left and right throughout the lineup chasing Allen out of this game earlier than his DFS price tag indicates. His lefty pitching ways can work out against other teams some soft teams in the AL Central, but not against the Padres.
Ryan Weathers will open up the game and then the bullpen will take over. Guardians have some hot hitters including Jose Ramirez who is hitting the ball like a 1st Round Pick. This is no easy breezy matchup and Weathers will have to be effective early or it will get out of hand fast.
