FANTASY BASEBALL 5 PROSPECTS FOR THE SUMMER
FANTASY BASEBALL 5 PROSPECTS FOR THE SUMMER
By Muntradamus
BEAST DOME NATION.
This Fantasy Baseball season, we have seen Rookies explode out of the gate like we have never seen before. Of course leading the way is Elly De La Cruz who has been so impressive that many people do not even talk about his teammate Matt McLain. McClain with his 7 HR/7 SB .300 season is arguably Top 5 SS numbers in all of MLB since his call-up. Everyone is in love with Elly De La Him, as he will be a Top 5 pick in Fantasy Baseball next season.
Usually, we do not see Rookies like this make an impact in Fantasy Baseball until August or September. With August looming a few weeks away, here are five guys in the minors I would grab now if you are in deep leagues who could make a huge impact on your team.
JASSON DOMINGUEZ (OF) – NYY
Nicknamed, “The Martian” because he is out of this world. Jasson Dominguez is supposed to be the next big thing since Mike Trout. His Rookie Card was going for over $100K in 2020, and because of Covid he kind of missed a rookie season. In the minors he is showing big power, and amazing speed. Easily a 30 HR/40 SB season will be in the works when he plays a full season in MLB.
IF anyone is going to be the next De La Cruz and be an instant star, Jasson is the guy. Yankees should call him up sooner than later, likely August, and when that moment happens everyone will be watching what this kid can do. For now they are relying on Jake Bauers/Billy McKinney in LF, Yankees will wait until August so his Rookie eligibility kicks in next season. From there he will be a 1st Round pick in Fantasy Baseball for years to come.
AUSTIN WELLS (C) – NYY
Wells is a former 1st Round Pick, and the catcher has a lot of pop in his bat. The lefty-swinging power-hitting catcher would fit great in a Yankees lineup that really has no MLB talent at catcher. It is only a matter of time for the Yankees to call Wells up, and when they do you got yourself a potential Top 10 Catcher ready to make an impact, especially hitting balls in the jet stream to right field in Yankee Stadium. 20+ HRs in a season is definitely in his future.
JAMES WOOD (OF) – WAS
The big piece of the Juan Soto trade to the Padres, was the Nationals getting the 6’6 James Wood. He has big power, he has big speed. The Nationals currently have Corey Dickerson holding onto the spot that Wood will take over in August. With the Nationals just playing for fun right now, there is zero doubt the Nationals will call up their top prospect and see what he can do against MLB pitching as they groom him to be a starter next season.
JACKSON CHOURIO (OF) – MIL
The next big prospect from the Dominican Republic is this guy right here. The Brewers need to bring him up sooner than later if they want to win and make the playoffs. Joey Wiemer/Blake Perkins/Owen Miller are all scrubs compared to what Chourio can do if he was in the lineup. He has decent power, but amazing speed. Regardless he can put it all together and be a stud. Definitely, someone that will be drafted in Fantasy Baseball in the near future. He is only 19 years old, but he is already MLB ready.
PETE CROW-ARMSTRONG (OF) – CHC
If you miss out on the above outfielders, PCA is the next big prospect who can make a big impact on your Fantasy roster in your OF. Not amazing power but he has some pop in his bat, as well as his ability to steal a lot of bases. The Cubs are falling out of any chance of making the playoffs very quickly, once it is over it is time to see what they got in their big prospect. Not in love with his potential, but he could be a very poor man’s Christian Yelich. Likely not to make a big fantasy impact down the stretch, but he is serviceable.
BONUS DEEP SLEEPER
JASON MISOROWSKI (SP) – MIL
The guy throws around 100 MPH. It will only be a matter of time before everyone gets excited about this kid as he is the closest thing to unhittable. While the Brewers are still in the hunt, there is no reason not to call up this guy and see what he can do against MLB hitters. They are wasting his arm in the minors as he will not be able to average 100 MPH on his pitches forever.
Once he is called up, everyone will be watching. He was only drafted last year, but there is no time like the present when you got a kid who throws 100 MPH and is dominating minor league baseball. There is a chance he does not get called up, but it would be a bad move by the Brewers if they do not.
