ELITE 8 GAMES: PICKING THE SPREAD
By Matthew L. Lofton
MATT’S RECORD (31-24-3)
Take Syracuse +3 over Ohio State. The dream run is about to end and OSU’s defense still is very handsy. Syracuse takes it +3.
Take Louisville +1 over Florida. Florida had a gift run thanks to its opponents to the Elite 8 and Louisville playing great and Rick Pitino will out-coach Billy Donovan.
SUNDAYS PICKS
Take Baylor +8 over Kentucky. I have not been high on Baylor, but its
bigs are finally starting to play like bigs. The Baylor inside players
also like to flash at the perimeter, which will draw Kentucky’s
Anthony Davis out of the paint and may get him in foul trouble, ala
Cody Zeller and Indiana in December. Baylor has the talent to win this
game.
Take Kansas -1 over North Carolina. Even if Marshall plays for North
Carolina, he will be severely limited and Kansas should force him to
make plays to the hurt hand. Limited range of motion may be fine for
shooting, but Marshall will make his money in the NBA on passing and
handling the ball. Kansas should win this game.
