MOST IMPORTANT FANTASY BASEBALL NEWS TUE (4/2)
– Carlos Gonzalez and Troy Tulowitzki both hit HRs in back-to-back days. On the road!
– Orioles Power ruins David Price and his Debut Win. Jake McGee blows any chances of being a closer anytime soon, even though he was a long shot from replacing Rodney in the first place.
– J.P. Arencibia will likely not catch R.A. Dickey for the rest of the season. 4 Balls got away from him that were easily catchable. Most hit the side of his glove just missing the webbing time after time.
– Yu Darvish almost throws the perfect game, Rangers offense scores 6 runs in the final 3 INN.
– Pete Kozma who was hot all Spring hits a HR in game #2. If you need a SS, he is a good waiver wire add. Jaime Garcia continues great Spring.
– Michael Morse, MVP of Spring Training, hits 2 HRs in game #2. 40+ HR season could happen.
– Hyun Jin-Ryu had a terrible defensive performance behind him.

What should I do with J.P. Arencibia? My starting catcher is Wilin Rosario and it looks like he won’t be catching for De La Rosa this season. The only catcher I have on my radar is Welington Castillo. Should I drop Arencibia and pick up another catcher?
I picked up J.P. for yesterday and to cover for Rosario’s (col) off day tomorrow. I usually like to run with only one catcher and pick up somebody on the off day. (i have a better option at utility spot). I’ll end up dropping J.P. after the games tomorrow for either a SP or RP. (only have 3 SP on the team at the moment). If you don’t have a better option run with them both. Their scheduled off days might conflict once and a while but should work most of the season.
Dave in your example I would drop J.P. only if there is a better bat on your waiver wire. You still have to assume the 25+ HR potential is there, and J.P. is a bat I would play in Daily Fantasy right now in the right matchup.

Do not fear Brendan.
J.P. and Arencibia are both two of the top power hitting catchers in the game. It is only week 1, and catchers do not catch everyday of the week to begin with. Castillo is not anywhere near their talent level.
