MUNTRADAMUS ALL-STAR TEAM (2014)

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

The one Rule to remember when playing Fantasy Baseball.

IT IS NOT A SPRINT

IT IS A MARATHON

These are wise words to remember as you enter the second half of your Fantasy Baseball season.  Your team could be in 1st Place now, and finish in 6th Place later.  Stay focused and continue to check BEAST DOME when we resume action.  More baseball content coming out as we close the season strong and lead everyone to a Championship.   Going into this MLB season, fantasy Sites were pumping out information that is completely speculative and 100% similar to every other site.  Those who did not goto BEAST DOME missed out on a lot of key players.

EVAN GATTIS – ATL

(Expert Catcher Average: 9)

MUNTRADAMUS VS. SCOTT PIANOWSKI

Gattis1 Everyone was hating on Evan Gattis coming into the Fantasy Baseball Season.  All the experts were complaining this off-season, “Fluke season last year, bad batting average, off-season knee surgery.” They were wrong. Sometimes you can look at a baseball player and just know he is going to be good.  Evan Gattis posses that special skill.  He is a lumber jackman in the middle of the forest, crushing HRs.  His power is untouchable, he will hit 30 HRs this season despite his time on the Disabled List.

PAUL GOLDSCHMIDT – ARI

95 Games. 16 HR. 61 RBI

BRANDON BELT – SF

(Not everyday player anymore)

43 Games. .242 Average. 10 HR. 22 RBI. 21 Runs. 3 SB

Let us not forget that Teixeira has historically been a 2nd Half Monster.  Big things coming to close out the season.

2B

CHASE UTLEY – PHI

(EXPERT 2B AVERAGE: 11)

Chase1 Never gave up on Chase Utley when everyone else did.  He was clearly a staple of the BEAST DOME Draft Strategy.   You can see for yourself in all the comments how many owners ended up with Chase.

3B

PEDRO ALVAREZ – PIT

(Expert 3B Average: 9)

If you are a BEAST DOME fan.  You have to read this Waiver Wire article from April 2012.

SS

JIMMY ROLLINS – PHI

(Expert SS Average: 17)

Jimmy1 Jimmy Rollins was always the backup plan if you did not get any of the star Shortstops in your draft.  Jimmy is the man for the Phillies and is easily the hottest hitter heading into the All-Star Break.  Everyone was writing him off, and he has already duplicated last seasons stats.

OF

NELSON CRUZ – BAL

(Expert OF Average: 38)

Everything you need to read about the BEAST DOME MVP is right here.

Cruz1

OF

MELKY CABRERA – TOR

(Expert OF Average: 69)

Melky1 The unsung hero.  He was out there late in a lot of drafts this season.  If your league was deep enough, Melky found a spot on your team.

OF

JOSE BAUTISTA – TOR

(Expert OF Average: 11)

Jose1 The man is just too good.  Jose Bautista could be the best, most consistent power hitter of our time after the Steroid ERA of baseball.  He will hit 45+ once again if not more.  He is another player that loves to get hot in the second half.

  1. Impressive man, some really good calls up there! I think the most impressive is Cueto with the injury he was coming off of to begin the season. Can’t wait for more football content! Young Montee will rise!

  2. Munt is the real deal. He helped me with my beast squad through the draft process and has helped me improve my squad throughout the season. I would honestly be in last place if it were not for him helping me grab such great players like Cruz, Chris Sale, Weaver, and making great trades such as G Richards for Mesoraco since Wieters went down

Munt your site is the only place I get my fantasy information. You draft rankings have always given me the advantage. Some of my steals were: Utley Rd 12, Ryu Rd 15, Cruz Rd 17 (Traded for Ortiz), Lester Rd 18, Cueto Rd 21. The team started out strong but after the injury to Weiters it started to slide a little. The slide was largely in part because I was either claiming or trading for injured players for the second half of the season and playoffs. My pitching and infield has always been strong but I felt I needed to upgrade my outfield. It’s an 8 man league, where we all make the playoffs. The goal is to have the players and pitching to advance in the playoffs. The last month I was claiming injured players from inpatient owners that had to sit on my bench to get healthy, now I’ll have them for ROS.

(I couldn’t have drafted a better pitching staff)

I will need to find a place for Paxton once he comes off the DL. I might try to trade Kemp and a SP for Strasberg?

Thank you again for all your help,
    Dave

  5. Looking at this team.

You cannot ask for a better infield. Ryan Zimmerman hit a HR before the break which is encouraging. Chase Headley is a great backup just in case that thumb injury lingers and takes away his power.

Starting Pitchers cannot ask for more. Walker will be in the majors in no time, Miley is pitching lights out.

No moves to recommend for this team. You are in 10th place now, just wait for Crush Davis to heat up in the second half and the Playoffs is all yours. When Carlos Beltran reaches his potential, your team will be too good.

    BEAST

  6. You have Bryce Harper and Evan Longoria on your bench.

3 years from now you will laugh at that statement above as this is easily the most dominant Fantasy Baseball team of this decade. Do not worry about hitting, Hanley healthy for the 2nd half is key, and look for Longoria and Bryce Harper to start playing like 2nd Round draft picks through the crunch run. Your team is stacked.

Pitching wise I cannot tell if this is the AL All-Star Pitching Roster or just your team. King Felix/Lester/Sale/Scherzer all threw for the AL, and you also have Ryu/Weaver and Cueto. Not to mention Gio Gonzalez/Arrieta and Walker?!?

This team is too good for words.

Do not worry about Paxton he has been on the DL too long this season to expect him to be himself again. If you can trade away Kemp for Strasburg go ahead. Bryce Harper should not be on any Fantasy Bench.

  7. Very Nice team Aaron.

Infield is very strong with a lot of power. Jean Segura will pick it up in the 2nd Half he is too talented to play this bad all year. Jon Singleton was a great addition as he looks like Carlos Pena on steroids.

OF cannot complain about any of those players. I like the Hosmer/Butler combination, but that combination will let you down more often than not.

SPs are great. Worried about Minor and his ability to finish the season strong, and the bicep injury to Jordan Zimmermann will have your heart stop for a second. Jonathan Papelbon also being traded is a concern.

The move to make is to drop Joba Chamberlin and add Antonio Bastardo. If Papelbon goes, Antonio is the man as Mike Adams may not return. I want you to also trade for a starting pitcher.

Trade away Hosmer and Mike Minor for a stud pitcher you can trust. Try to get Jered Weaver, or Jason Hammel along with another decent starter like Jose Quintana. Minor is not the same pitcher this year.

Look for Fowler to have a big 2nd half when he returns, and use Kyle Lohse over Rex Brothers as he continues to struggle.

  8. Good picks on many of those for sure. But i don’t get posting the Ryu pick for yourself like you have made the right call thus far. Experts avg rank was 32…. You had him ranked all the way up to 8th….. But at the break, Ryu is ranked in the high 30’s…. So you were way off on that pick, no? Not that i think he is goin to be bad, or that he won’t improve that ranking in the 2nd half…: just didnt get the reaso. Why you would post that pick of yours when it was so far off.

Just a thought. I play on ESPN but i love reading many different sites materials and then make my own judgements from there.

  9. Ryu 10 wins (2 short of MLB leader)
ERA under 3.50. WHIP under 1.25.
    Almost 100Ks

Good player that I ranked high to make sure all VIPs snagged. Dodgers are going to play better baseball in the second half and Ryu is an easy candidate for 18 Wins and over 165Ks with great numbers to support it.

  10. Crazy owners this year, in a 8 man league the wire is sort of stacked so owners make a quick change, because I grabbed Harper I missed out on Crush Davis, because I missed Crush I got CarGo. Another owner sees the long term value, so we’ve been swapping waiver spots.

I’m guessing Arrieta is the odd man out if I need to stream? (I like Polanco).

Currently on the Wire is Heyward, Alex Gordon, Granderson, Sequra, and Brandon Phillips was just dropped. I figured I would keep a eye on Sequra when he comes back. When he starts rolling might be one to claim to trade at a later date as long as my guys stay healthy.

    Thank you again….

Good luck 2nd half Beast Nation!!!!

  11. Even with the news that Taijuan Walker is going to be in the minors for a couple more starts, Arrieta is still next to go. Taijuan will be a Fantasy Playoff BEAST at the very least. He still has a lot of Innings left in the tank as he was rehabbing the entire start of the season, and the Mariners have a playoff run ahead of them.

You need Polancos speed. You can almost trade away Chase Utley for Dee Gordon if you really need the speed. Segura has BEAST potential the second he gets hot. Talent like his does not disappear.
