FANTASY BASKETBALL LUKA & AD TRADE
FANTASY BASKETBALL LUKA & AD TRADE
By Muntradamus
BEAST DOME NATION.
I was watching an old episode of the Cleveland show on Saturday night to reset the mind after another day of inhaling the NBA, when my phone starts to buzz. I pick up my phone after a funny joke on the show and it says, Anthony Davis traded to the Maverick for Luka. Then I think this cannot be real so I continue to watch my show, then think maybe this is true let us see what Twitter says. What do you know it is confirmed.
FIRST THOUGHT
While Luka is amazing and at 25 years old, great that the Lakers got him as a lifelong Lakers fan, the only team I am loyal to. However at what expense? The Lakers big man trio is Jaxson Hayes/Trey Jemison III/Christian Koloko, what do they expect to do in the Playoffs when they go up against Jokic? Just give up. Pretty much every team in the West has a legit big man that is in playoff contention, Lakers do not.
You have to assume the Lakers are not done making trades and will bring in a new center, if they do, then this trade is fine. If the Lakers are fine with their trio sampler platter of below average centers, then the Lakers will not do anything in the playoffs. Luka is a liability on defense, but maybe Lebron will get him into shape playing at his top potential. You always have to impress the king.
The Mavericks on the other hand got a lot better with the trade.
Yes Luka is amazing, and great, and a superstar and carried them to the Championship a season ago. While losing Luka hurts, they get one of the most dominant big men in the game who makes them the greatest defensive team in the NBA when it comes to defending the paint. Davis/Gafford/Lively is a great trio, if PJ Washington can learn to be a SF in this offense it will all make sense. Kyrie has a dream squad built around him and even though he is nearing the end of his historic career, this is his Lebron moment to go out with a team built for him.
Mavericks are automatic contenders to win it all, Lakers could be if they get a true big man, or two.
