Last season it was clearly Wemby vs. Chet for the Rookie of the Year Race. Clearly it was Wemby who deserved the award. Anyone who gets upset that I do not call him Wembanyama can go cry to their momma.

Chet put up a decent season last year, averaging 15/7, but clearly he had a huge flaw. Chet had no chance to compete with real big men on a physical level. This offseason the Thunder grabbed Isiah Pacheco Hartenstein who is nothing more than a thick tree trunk under the rim to grab rebounds and stop big men.

That means Chet and his 7’2 frame will be watching another big man get rebounds for the first time in his career. Not to mention SGA loves to sky in for his rebounds to collect triple-double rebounds, and Jalen Williams certainly has size to get the boards.

At the end of the day, you are left with a Kevin Durant type of player who misses far more shots, and takes way less shots. Also probably ends up with less rebounds than KD, and yet he is still drafted ahead of KD. Not that KD is part of the Draft Guide, but I much rather have Durant than Chet all day.

We could easily see Chet Holmgren average less than his 15/7 a year ago as a Rookie. Yet he is still going in the 2nd Round of all Drafts.
