I will start with the elephant in the room. My condolences to those that got raped by Andy Dalton on the BETRIVERS.com pick of the week. Bryce Young had the Panthers out to a 10-0 lead to close out the 1st quarter. Making the Panthers 1st Half ML pick look like a lock. A lock that unfortunately did not happen thanks to Andy Dalton looking like the scrubbiest scrub QB you have ever seen. Could not move the ball, punts galore, and worst of all with the score 10-10 inside the red zone with less than 1 minute to go in the half. Dalton throws an INT! Panthers 1st Half ML was a lock if Bryce was not benched so early, unlike Anthony Richardson who led the Colts to many TD drives before being benched right before the half. That’s preseason Football for you.

With that out of the way, let us talk about Bryce Young.

BEAST OR BUST

When you are the #1 Pick in the NFL Draft, you are supposed to make the Pro Bowl at least one time in your career, otherwise you are a BUST. The chances of Bryce Young making the Pro Bowl as a Panther, is probably zero.

Bryce Young reminds me of Drew Brees, without the talent of Drew Brees. Brees took some time to get his NFL career going after struggling with the Chargers, then going to the Saints and becoming a Hall of Famer. The same story can be told about Bryce Young depending where his second landing spot is. The only way Bryce Young POTENTIALLY becomes a Pro Bowl QB, is if he is surrounded by Pro Bowl caliber players. The Panthers do not have that.

Dissecting Bryce Young as a QB, he reminds me of a kid playing QB at recess standing in Shotgun waiting for his players to get open. There are a few problems. One, Bryce Young does not have a strong arm. Two, Bryce Young does not have a lot of speed. Sounds like Drew Brees.

The reality is watching Bryce Young for the first time in my life, as I notoriously do not watch College Football because it is a waste of time and I have to put all my focus in preparing for each Football Sunday instead of watching random kids playing organized Football interchange every year on a Saturday.

The reality is. Kyler Murray was far more impressive as a QB than Bryce Young when I think about both of them as Rookies and first impressions. Kyler Murray has a cannon, and he has speed. Both small in size, Kyler Murray can be the most dominant player on the Football field on any play. Bryce Young is nothing more than a role player, even Brock Purdy is probably on the same level as far as talent that Bryce Young has.
