Last season Gardner Minshew became everyone’s favorite QB that they never knew they loved. Just like that, from a bench player to a Rookie card that easily goes in the triple digits. Sometimes $3K+!

Gardner Minshew became a celebrity overnight. A big part of his success came at the hands of his go-to WR in D.J. Chark. There was no doubt that Chark put up some nice games last season on his way to 1,008 Yards and 8 TDs. Chark also put up some games that made you want to puke, including completely disappearing in the Fantasy playoffs.

D.J. CHARK 2019 SEASON

The first question we have to ask about Chark to decide if we are going to draft him. Did his offense change? YES, the offense did change. It brings in football guru and ex-Redskins party head coach Jay Gruden to be the offensive coordinator. Instantly, the Jaguars offense should be better in theory. From Doug Marrone who was as creative as subway sandwich artist, to Jon Gruden a man who made Kirk Cousins over $100 Million. Jaguars fans should have something to be excited about.

However there is an Ex-Factor. No ability to practice the new scheme in preseason games. Usually, it takes a minute for an offense to really look sharp in a new system. For example, last season in Minnesota it took about 6 Weeks for Kirk Cousins to look good in Gary Kubiak’s system. Kirk however had 4 weeks of the preseason to really figure it out. Is Gruden’s system complicated? No, not really but it could take a month before we could see Jaguars at full potential.

“Okay, if Chark slips on draft day, grab him?”

No. Do not grab Chark. I did not drop the biggest bomb on you at all. This article was meant to talk to you about D.J. Chark but what you are really going to learn is that you should not draft Leonard Fournette. What am I talking about?

Thompson comes into the Jaguars system ready to be a Fantasy Football MACHINE! Okay completely over-exaggerated that but he will be a difference-maker in the Jaguar’s passing game as he was Gruden’s favorite toy the Redskins had. Thompson will steal all 3rd downplays from Fournette, he will also take a ton of targets away from Chark. Does not help Chark at all that the Jaguars have their best pass-catching TE in what feels like a decade with Tyler Eifert now on the squad.

With so many weapons still on the Jaguars, Conley & Westbrook are both very formidable WRs who deserve 5-7 Targets a game. Tyler Eifert will take a lot of targets away over the middle of the field. New system to learn. New 3rd Down RB that is going to take away a ton of targets. There will be some good weeks, but drafting Chark at his ADP #60 which means 5th-6th Round Pick? Which means drafting him to be your WR2/WR3?
