FANTASY FOOTBALL BUST
DON’T DRINK THE KOOL-AID
(AARON JONES)
By Muntradamus
BEAST DOME NATION.
Once upon a time in the 1950s, someone by the name of Jim Jones led a cult. Eventually, this cult all drank the poisoned kool-aid per the instruction of Jim Jones.
This year in Fantasy Football, Sheep Experts are barking at you to take Aaron Jones in the 2nd Round of all Fantasy Football Leagues. I mean how could you not if you are a blind sheep and just look at the box scores?
19 TDs! 1500+ Total Yards! That is a Fantasy wet dream! OF COURSE I WILL TAKE HIM ROUND 2.
Said every Fantasy Football sheep.
WHY AARON JONES WILL BUST
Let us first analyze those 19 TDs.
Last season the Packers offense was clicking all season. Despite all the clicking, Aaron Rodgers only had 26 TDs through the air. Davante Adams missed 4 games during the season with a turf toe injury. In those 4 games without Davate Adams, Aaron Jones had 7 TDs. Including 4 in one game against Dallas! 4 TDs in one game is something to write in your diary about. Jones also had another game with 3 TDs on the ground, Adams played that one. Anyways, 7 of Jones 19 TDs came without Davante Adams playing. Nearly 50%!
The Packers decided, Aaron Jones is good, but he is very small and we need to draft a RB early in our draft. Despite the fact that Jamaal Williams looks like he may be better than Jones, especially in certain aspects like being a 3rd down RB. They also have Dexter Williams who looks to be good at some point in his career. No, the Packers went out and drafted AJ Dillion. You can read my full take on Dillion below, wrote about after the Packers drafted him.
AJ DILLION ARTICLE
Despite all these TDs and all these Total Yards. Aaron Jones was really not impressive if it was not for the TD to save his week in Fantasy.
Only five times all season did Aaron Jones run for over 100 Yards in a game. Three of those five times came in the last five games of the season. The rush attempts were also very low as well. 16 or less carries in a game 12/16 times = 75%! His PPR numbers not outstanding either, couple GREAT games sprinkled amongst below-average games. Aaron Jones was bailed out with his TDs and big plays that came often enough to keep him in the conversation as a Fantasy BEAST.
Health has always been a factor for the tiny Aaron Jones. Last season he was able to stay healthy. This year the RB core for the Packers is stronger than ever, and Davante Adams is healthy. All of this is shaping up to be a BUST Fantasy Football Season for Aaron Jones. A player who only scored 13 career TDs in two seasons prior to his 19 TDs last season, do not be surprised to see him revert back to his 7 TD range in 2020. Could be even less when you consider AJ Dillion HAS to be the Goal Line RB. They do not make RBs that big and fast like AJ Dillion.
If you draft Aaron Jones on your Fantasy Football team. I am sorry but you drank the Kool-Aid.
