FROM KERRYON (VOL 2)

RONALD JONES – TB

While it seemed like Ronald Jones had a great shot of being the RB for the Bucs, that is far from the case. Ronald Jones looks like Ronnie Hillman, some speed, but does not really know how to use it. What Hillman had going for him, he was on the greatest offense there was with Peyton Manning and the Broncos. What Ronald Jones does not have, is that offense. Jones is on a losing Bucs team and he definitely does not look ready to be a fantasy contributor in Year 1. Maybe when the Bucs are out of it completely Jones will get some work, but whoever drafts Ronald Jones early clearly does not watch Preseason Football.

Now that we have two weeks down in the Preseason, the amount of information on who is going to BEAST or BUST is right in front of our eyes. Here is the rundown.

PRESEASON REPORT FROM WEEK 2

KERRYON JOHNSON – DET

The poster boy of who we are watching this preseason. He is definitely for real and his opportunity to be the guy grew in a large way with Ameer Abdullah fumbling the ball on the second play. After that, Abdullah was performing as the Kick Returner and Punt Returner. Put all of this together and Ameer is no longer part of the plan to be the RB.

Before you get too excited, Theo Riddick showed he is an amazing 3rd down RB, blocking and catching and speed, Theo will keep his role. LeGarrette Blount still looking powerful and pushing the pile 4-6 yards at a time, Blount will keep his role as the short yardage RB, probably goal line as well.

While Kerryon Johnson is the next Marshall Faulk, he will have to wait his turn this season as an every Week RB2. Between losing 3rd downs to Theo and short yardage TDs to Blount, his ceiling is really low-end RB2 every week while he will play more like a solid RB3. Someone you do not want to burn your draft strategy on as he is still going as a respectable pick and there are better ways to use those early mid-round selections on someone who may only see 50% of the snaps. Not to mention the Lions Offensive Line looks horrible this preseason.

SAM PERINE – WASH

Will you Perine my Valentine? Perine took a carry last week that made him look like a 1st Round RB in Fantasy Football. While No Gain Rob Kelley on the squad lookig a bit trimmer, as well as Chris Thompson as the 3rd down RB, and even Bibbs as the explosive replacement for Thompson. The situation is crowded for the skins. When you factor in Adrian Peterson just joined the team, the Redskins have one of the deepest backfields of average+ talent you will find.

Sam Perine is the likely guy who will emerge as the #1 RB if I had to put it down on anyone. First he has to heel from his minor ankle sprain which shuld be no problem. With that being said, he is not part of any Draft Strategy and you can take him at the very end of deep leagues.

DION LEWIS/DERRICK HENRY – TEN

Like many of us. We see Derrick Henry and we cannot help to think he is a BEAST and he will dominate the touches for the Titans. I was once with this crowd, until I saw Dion Lewis’ true value this week in the preseason. The guy can catch a swing pass and just explode for 10 yards. He can catch another swing pass and make someone miss and pickup another handful of yards.

Dion Lewis has too much value in the passing game this season for the Titans to not use him. They are also paying him big bucks to make catches. While Henry will still get all the short yard work, he will also be in the game when the Titans are burning the clock with a lead. Dion will still be in the game in 3rd down situations even in the red zone, as well as anytime the Titans are in comeback mode.

Do not draft Derrick Henry. No reason to draft Lewis as well.
