FANTASY FOOTBALL BUST OF THE WEEK (13)

DIGGING OUT OF A HOLE

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

Maybe the Gurley Fans will begin to silent down a bit. Maybe the Diggs Fans will pretend they were never part of this argument. Two Superstars that have been raved by ESPN and other Sheep Sites as the players that will change the game etc. are now seeing their players stock drop down with no sign of being where it once was.

Here are a few players will be having you Digg out of a hole if you start them this Week in Fantasy Football.

JAY CUTLER vs. SF

MUNTRADAMUS RANK #18

EXPERT QB RANK #8

When did Jay Cutler become a Top 10 Option at QB according to the “Experts.” Was it his 200+ Yards/1 TD Performance against the Packers Defense on Thanksgiving that totaled less than 15 Fantasy Points?

Whenever it happened, Cutler is not the truth this season. While he is doing a great job managing games and driving down fields with a less than stellar WR core. The loss of Brandon Marshall was too HUGE and look what has happened to Fitzmagic who stole his weapon. Magic easy Top 10 Option, Cutler upside is more Top 15 QB. Cold Chicago Weather and a healthy Forte means we should see a lot of Forte/Langford as the Bears are not looking to run up any scores.

TODD GURLEY vs. ARI

MUNTRADAMUS RANK #23

EXPERT RB RANK #8

Slowly the Gurley Windstorm is starting to blow away. Take away the pass interference or the long run and we see the true Gurley come out. Nothing wrong with him as a player, but this Rams offense is not stellar in the passing game and teams will continue to stack the box and make Gurley beat 10 man boxes. Cardinals were upset by Gurley earlier in the season, look for them to correct their problems and bottle the rookie Superstar up.

Once the Rams fall behind by 14+ Points, Gurley will be faded out of the gameplan.

MARK INGRAM vs. CAR

MUNTRADAMUS RB RANK #21

EXPERT RB RANK #11

Ingram has had an interesting season. One where he saw a lot of production taken away from Khiry Robinson to start the season, and now more and more each week from Spiller to close out the season. While he deals with losing plays, the Saints go up against the best Defense in the NFC with Carolina. Carolina is going to swarm Drew Brees all game if he stays under center, which means a lot of shotgun. While Ingram is capable of playing a Shotgun RB role, we should see a lot of CJ Spiller in the mix.

Ingram will not get his fantasy points easy this week. It does not help the Panthers will drive against the Saints up and down the field all game.

JOHN BROWN @ STL

MUNTRADAMUS WR RANK #50

EXPERT WR RANK #28

Brown had 9 fantasy points last week. Floyd and Fitzgerald both underperformed, and 9 is all Brown can put up. It is not likely Brown will be the leading WR for this Cardinals offense on a consistent basis, so the games he does get that opportunity, he has to take advantage. To add salt to the wound, Brown is dealing with a minor hamstring issue which could flare up at any time.

The only small advantage Brown does have is that Floyd too is dealing with a hamstring injury. Go roll dice or something instead of risking a WR#5 performance, especially against a great Home Rams Defense.

TRAVIS BENJAMIN vs. CIN

MUNTRADAMUS WR RANK #44

EXPERT WR RANK #33

We all saw Austin Davis, those who actually watched, hit Travis Benjamin for a long TD. While it is exciting to think that can happen on a consistent basis, it was purely blown coverage from a Football Team that was playing as bad as their 3 win record indicated.

Going up against a Bengals Defense that is playing for the #1 Seed, Benjamin will not be able to split blown coverage. The Browns offense surprisingly has a lot of options in the passing game, all below average compared to other teams, but Benjamin is in that mix. For Travis to have a good Fantasy Game, it would take a Deep Shot where he is covered to work. Chances are it will not happen.

STEFON DIGGS vs. SEA

MUNTRADAMUS WR RANK #54

EXPERT WR RANK #37

Everyone’s favorite ESPN Sheep WR is approaching Waiver Wire status. If Stefon Diggs can’t have a big game against the Falcons Pass Defense in a Dome. Chances are he will not be seeing a HUGE game against the Seahawks Secondary in cold 30+ Degree Weather.

BEAST or BUST STEFON DIGGS (Week 7)

It was a nice run for Stefon Diggs. Would not be surprising to see him on many Waiver Wire’s before the season is over for those who wan’t to stay on the Titanic.
