Fantasy Basketball Beast Or Bust: Waiver Wire (Week 11)

Fantasy Basketball Beast Or Bust:

Waiver Wire (Week 11)

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

BEAST or BUST is now going to be a Waiver Wire article that you will see every Sunday Night projecting a list of players for the weeks to come.

I will go through a list of players who have BEAST or BUST potential that are owned in less than 80% of Sportsline leagues to.  Some deep sleepers, some players that are on the top of your wire.  My analysis of the player is their current and long-term future with your Fantasy Squad.

Don’t Forget to check out the Rankings on Saturday and Sunday to see if any players I have listed would be upgrades over the players you have.

Enjoy, and feel free to ask questions @ THE BEAST NATION: CHAMPIONSHIP JOURNEY.

ROBIN LOPEZ – C – NOH

Side-Show Bob is the first thing that comes to my mind when I see RoLo.

While Lopez continues to prove that caveman are capable of playing basketball, his awkward hook shoot, and good defensive mindset will not come in handy on nights when the Hornets are getting blown out.  With Ryan Anderson being night/day a better offensive player than Lopez.  As soon as the Hornets fall behind, which is frequently.  Then Lopez is on the bench.

Anthony Davis and his upside will not be playing 10 Minutes often this season, and soon we can see Robin Lopez taking a role of playing less than 20 minutes a game.  With Eric Gordon back as well, you can count on little shot attempts from the awkward BEAST.  No..he does not deserve that title.

VERDICT: BUST.

ED DAVIS – F/C – TOR

You have to get excited when you hear the name Ed Davis.  This guy has 15/10 potential every night, with HUGE block/steal potential.  Tell me why he is not on your fantasy team already?  Owned in only 70% of Sportsline leagues, Ed Davis is a player you have to have moving forward.

Andrea Bargnani is out for another month at least.  The other Jonas Brother is nothing compared to Ed Davis, and coach Casey has finally come around to admitting the obvious.  If anything, Ed Davis will be a BEAST come Fantasy Playoff time.  If you take one thing from this article, adding  Ed Davis is the thing you did.

VERDICT: BEAST.

JOHN HENSON – F – MIL

There is a lot to like about John Henson.  There is also a lot to hate about John Henson.  Regardless, he will come in waves.

Right now Ersan Ilyasova is injured, so that opens the door for Henson to show us his Larry Sanders potential. While the production is nice, it is not long-term.  It never will be this season.  He is an inconsistent Fantasy Star in the  making.  Hopefully he does not go the Anthony Rudolph route, because that is the type of player he can become if he does continue to show consistency in his limited time.  If he becomes a starter, watch out.  For now though…

VERDICT: Long-Term BUST.

ALONZO GEE – G/F – CLE

Gee is one of the sickest SF’s in the NBA.  He is very underrated as a player, but he is just as athletic and talented as most of the players on your fantasy team.  With ball hogs like C.J. Miles/Daniel Gibson/Dion Waiters and Kyrie who can be one.  It is hard to get the consistent scoring you want from Gee.  But when one of those other players are down, throw Gee right in your lineup.  Ride out this mini BEAST when his opportunities are there.  He is a good bench stash for now.

VERDICT: BEAST.

RODNEY STUCKEY – G – DET

The Pistons are a team that could change their lineup completely multiple times this season.  What should stay constant, is Rodney Stuckey seeing plenty of minutes.

If the Pistons has to have a face of the franchise, Greg Monroe is that guy.  But if you wanted to think of the veteran Pistons.  Tayshaun Prince and Rodney Stuckey are the first two that come to mind.  Stuckey has some legacy with this team, and coach Frank treats him as if he were a handling a version of Kobe Bryant.  At least that’s what his Fantasy Owners want.  Reality and Truth are two different things.

The reality is, Rodney Stuckey is their best guard.

The truth is, Rodney Stuckey is nothing more than a good reserve in Fantasy until he breaks out with some 30 Point games.  They could happen, but right now he has a few steps to make that happen.

VERDICT: BEAST.

BISMACK BIYOMBO – F/C – CHA

A favorite of mine back when this site was MaddeArena.  I was on the Bismack train before it was even at it’s station.  The Bobcats are comfortable using Biz consistently right now, but that could change quickly.

Hakim Warrick is a threat to have his random good nights.  Tyrus Thomas is healthy, and the Bobcats want to see if he still has the potential that made him a Top 5 Draft Pick out of LSU. Then to make things worse, Brendan Haywood has been eatting his minutes all season long.  When Byron Mullens returns, Biz will barley be worth hollding onto.

VERDICT: BUST.

BRADLEY BEAL – G – WAS

Beal at times is the best scorer on his team.  Those times will soon be coming to an end when Trevor Ariza and John Wall return to 100% healthy.  A likely potential log-jam at SG/SF with Jordan Crawford/Cartier Martin/Martell Webster/Trevor Ariza spells doom to his consistent PT.  Beal is a rookie and could see garbage time at the end of the year to bring you home a trophy.  For now.

VERDICT: BUST.

CHRIS KAMAN – C – DAL

Kaman has always been a gifted center offensively.  Consistent PT has always been a problem.  Now as we move into 2013, PT will become a major problem.

If you wanted to create an all-decade team of the 2000’s with players who were All-Star worthy at one point in time.  The Mavericks are that team.  SF: Shawn Marion. PF: Elton Brand. SG: Vince Carter. PF: Dirk Nowitzki. and C: Chris Kaman.

All of those players want to play big minutes, and Brandan Wright is still a developing project the Mavericks are not giving up on.  When you take all of this into consideration, you can see Kaman being less and less consistent as the season continues.  He will have his nights, but he will also have his DUDS.

VERDICT: BUST.

  1. Good question as I have him too. I also have Kevin Love, what do I do with him as he’s not living up to his potential. Right now I have 5 injured players, 3 of which aren’t going to play anytime soon. Love, Rose, Thorton, Rubio, and Tyreke. Who do I drop, who can I trade, who should I just sit and hold on to? I know it’s long season, but making it to the big game is base on what is done now, with this many big names hurt and doing nothing, the Big games is slipping away.

  2. I’m sitting on Rubio and Love as well. You most certainly can’t drop Love, Rev. And, you’d have to take a huge discount if you traded him. Evans should be fine going forward and would get a big value boost if Keith Smart were canned (not rumored, but definitely not out of the question). You can safely drop Thornton. Rubio should be back in the lineup Tuesday. If he plays his 20 minutes without a setback I’ll feel a lot better. I would probably drop Rose and run the risk of someone picking him up. I don’t think he’d see significant minutes before mid-late March.

  3. Team A:
    Dwight Howard
    Kyle Lowry

    Team B:
    LaMarcus Aldridge
    Ty Lawson

Which package would you want more? Thanks.

  4. rubio is playing so keep him. Tyreke is supposedly coming back soon. Love and Rose have a longer time table and are taking up roster space. its a difficult question. drop is not an option. but hopefully you can trade them.

  5. Give me Package B.

Aldridge is a bit of a downgrade to Dwight, but he does not kill you in FT%. Most of the time Aldridge will outscore Dwight as well.
Kyle Lowry is a little too inconsistent these days, and the Nuggets need Ty Lawson to be the man so this team can win more consistently.
