Insurance For Lotto Tickets

I am doing non-stop NBA homework to get everyone prepared to dominate their league. This article is a fantasy basketball tactic more than anything. There are star NBA players out there who are injured or injury prone. Here is your lesson of the day.

STEPHEN CURRY (G) & JARRETT JACK (G) – GSW
When you hear the name Stephen Curry, the first thing you think about is that ankle. He appears to be 100%, but you never know as the ankle is something you never want to mess with when talking about Fantasy Basketball players. Luckily the Warriors planned for the loss of absence, which makes Curry a lot less risky than he is. If Jarrett Jack has to take over the point for Golden State he can easily turn into a G #2/G #3 in all fantasy leagues. Jack can fill up the stat sheet with 3PTM/Assists/Steals/Points/FT% and is a Must-Own if you draft Curry.
ANDREW BOGUT (C) & CARLY LANDRY (F) – GSW
If Andrew Bogut has to miss any time this season, which is entirely possible as he is still not 100% from the ankle injury he suffered a year ago. Carl Landry would step into the starting lineup shifting David Lee to Center, to create one of the more athletic running big men in the NBA. Landry has a lot of talent but was unfortunately stuck in a bad big man rotation in New Orleans last season where nobody was getting consistent PT. Now Landry has a clear shot to being the 6th man and possible a starter some point this season. If you decide to draft Andrew Bogut who has 20/10 potential with blocks when 100%, you must draft Carl Landry as your insurance.
DERRICK ROSE (G) & KIRK HINRICH (G) – CHI
The Bulls have their former veteran star Kirk Hinrich back to run this team minus the Ben Gordon days. The Bulls are going to be a banging physical team, which could give Hinrich an edge in getting some easy assists. Last season Kirk did nothing with the Hawks, starting the season injured he never really had a chance. Now Kirk has to run the point possibly the entire 1st half of the season while Rose makes his Nation wide recovery from his torn ACL injury. With this strategy you can draft Derrick Rose earlier than he usually goes, and reach a little bit early and draft Kirk Hinrich. If you pull this off, you possibly have the Playoff MVP in D-Rose who could play like a 1st round value and go Adrian Peterson on us.
Rose is going way too late in drafts. He is too talented even if you have him for half of a season, he should not go past the 7th round.
JOHN WALL (G) & A.J. PRICE (G) – WAS
Price knows how to get assists. For this first month+ of the season, Price will be doing just that as he plays the moderator to get everyone involved in this offense. Which is good because Wall will learn a lot during these times and see who to pass to, and what he needs to do to get Ws for this franchise. Once Wall is healthy, all-systems-go he can play like a 1st round pick if he matures just a little bit. Draft Wall a bit earlier, land Price a bit earlier. You will not feel the blow.
CHAUNCEY BILLUPS (G) & JAMAL CRAWFORD (G) – LAC
Billups is a solid Fantasy option when he has it going. Problem is the Clippers got Jamal Crawford who could completely rip his value away as he is one of the most explosive scoring guards in the NBA at times. With Billups out until December, Crawford has more than a full month to carve out his role with this team. Crawford goes very late, as does Chauncey. It is a long season and there are going to be times when only one is healthy, while one is not. This is a similar situation to DeAnglo Williams/Jonathan Stewart if you want a Fantasy Football reference. The upside for a Guard #2 is there, but when both are healthy they play Guard #3 quality.
KYLE LOWRY (G) & JOSE CALDERON (G) – TOR
This is my favorite insurance policy pick that could turn out to be a lot bigger than you planned. As it stands now, Lowry is 100% and Jose Calderon is angry he is not the starting PG. We all know what Calderon can do in the assist category if he gets the minutes. Chances are the Raptors will be moving Calderon the first chance they have when a star Guard goes down from another team. So what you thought was just drafting a backup PG, you end up getting two starting PGs. That is the Meal Plan I would go on if I had to choose.

Catchin up on my bball! I like the insurance strat… def helps for football!
I’d like to suggest a “DO NOT DRAFT” article, highlighting people who you THINK are elite but will actually be splitting PT. This would really help a LOT.
Lastly, there’s 30 NBA teams but usually 10 fantasy teams per league, hence plenty of starting PGs to go around… you see where I’m going with this?
